With nearly 25% of the vote in a seven person race, Kim Nuesse was elected to the Sandusky city commission.

Nuesse on the budget crunch

The city of Sandusky is facing a huge budget problem, as many of you know. The Sandusky fire department recently took to the air waves to fight city hall’s threats to close one of it’s fire stations. Kim believes that the budget problems can be handled without losing valuable public services:

The Platform

We thought it would be easiest to lay out a series of short videos to capture the basis of Kim’s platform.

Her ideas on economic development are based on the idea that creating a livable city is the city government’s jobs, and that responsibility is limited. Kim believes that city government is not a solution to problems – it’s only a primer for economic development and a reflection of how the city views itself.

Kim believes that city government has a job to do – and if the public has faith and support in it’s efforts to provide basic city services, citizens will choose Sandusky as a waterfront destination for recreation and a satisfying place to raise their families.

Kim Nuesse will improve Sandusky’s “livability.”

A community’s livability is best gauged by the quality of it’s basic services, infrastructure maintenance (roads/sidewalks) and recreational capability for families. These factors attract families to choose Sandusky as a place to live which ultimately attracts business and economic development. A city is judged by how it looks and the level of service it provides to it’s citizens. Livability can make or break a city’s future.

Sandusky’s future is not about a single project like the Marina District. It’s about the entire city. Decisions must be based on information not agendas, and the interests of the entire community, not just a portion of it. Government (the people) must not become dependent on grant money or stimulus money. Stimulus money does not replace sustainability and good planning. Sustainability comes through serving families because families are the backbone of the community.

Kim Nuesse is an official candidate for Sandusky city commission! Having collected the 100 signatures necessary to place her name on the ballot, her petitions were validated by the Erie County Board of Elections last week…

The law requires 100 certified signatures of register voters in Sandusky, so Kim’s campaign is busy gathering the necessary signatures.
